1033

Basic Estimates of the 197~ Plan

.

Reservoir Inflow

Ruedi Reservoir

Inflow to Ruedi Reservoir is consider~d to be the flow of the
Fryingpan River at Ruedi, Colorado. ~ecords are available at
this station for October 1959 through iSeptember 196~. For water
years 1965 through May 1968, discharg$ at the gaging station on
the Fryingpan River near Ruedi, Colorado, is corrected for Rocky
Fork flow and used as Fryingpan River flow at Ruedi, Colorado.
Rocky Fork flow was estimated from spot measurements. After May
196B, when storage began at Ruedi Reservoir, the actual inflow
computed from measured outflow and ch~nge in storage is used.
Recorded Busk-Ivanhoe diversions were 'added for all l~ years and
recorded Charles H. Boustead Tunnel diversions were added for
1972 and 1973 to give undepleted inflow to Ruedi Reservoir.

A probability curve for Ruedi undepleted inflow was computed by
the modified California method and is shown graphically on exhibit
l. Annual inflow of a magnitude equaled or exceeded 50 percent
of the time was considered the most probable inflow, that with a
90 percent chance of being equaled or, exceeded was considered to
be the reasonable minimum, and that w~th only a 10 percent chance
of being equaled or exceeded was cons;idered the reasonable
maximum. The October through March inflow was the average 1960
through 1973 inflow for this period. 'After'October through March
inflow was subtracted, the remainder ~as distributed between the
months of April through September according to the distribution
of the mean undepleted inflow. From the undepleted inflow, the
corresponding transmountain diversions were subtracted. The trans-
mountain diversions were the most prqbable, the reasonable mini-
mum, and the reasonable maximum valu~s for Busk-lvanhoe and
Charles H. Boustead Tunnel diversion~ as determined by probability
studies, exhibit 2. Storable inflowiwas considered to be the
resulting depleted inflow less bypas~ for the protection of
recreational values, including fishing on the Fryingpan River
below Ruedi Reservoir.

.

Turquoise Lake

Inflow to the lake for water year 19!~ will be from four sources:
Homestake project imports, Busk-Ivanhoe imports, Fryingpan-Arkansas
project imports, and native flow of Lake Fork Creek. Estimates of
this inflow from Busk-Ivanhoe imports and native Lake Fork Creek
flow were made by use of historical records and probability analysis.

.

14
