The stream <br /> <br />bottom is composed mostly of sand and gravel. Some boulders averaging <br /> <br />two feet in diameter are also found in the channel. <br /> <br />Upon leaving this narrow valley the West Fork flows out into Commissary <br /> <br />Park where it will merge with the Main Fork to form the Encampment <br /> <br />River. <br /> <br />c. The Encampment River <br /> <br />From the confluence of the Main Fork and the West Fork, the Encampment <br /> <br />River flows northward for 3/4 mile to the Colorado-Wyoming border <br /> <br />where it leaves the study area. This segment of the River varys from <br /> <br />40 to 50 feet in width, two to three feet in depth and drops at a rate <br /> <br />of 45 feet per mile. The stream bottom is composed primarily of rock <br /> <br />and cobbles averaging six to eight inches in diameter. The elevation <br /> <br />of the River at the stateline is 8350 feet. This segment is located <br /> <br />entirely within Commissary Park. <br /> <br />d. Main Fork to the Study Area's Eastern Boundary <br /> <br />The study area's eastern boundary is dominated by 11,422 foot Davis Peak <br /> <br />and Buffalo Ridge. Directly to the east of the Main Fork and the adjacent <br /> <br />river bottom lands, the terrain rises abruptly at an estimated 50% grade <br />
