The principal one considered in

this review is given in the USBR memorandum entitled "Design Storm for Narrows,

Damsite - Narrows Unit - South Platte Division - Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin

Program", dated May 23, 1974. At the'request of the USBR, their study was

reviewed by the Office of Hydrology, National Weather Service; the results of

their review are given in a memorandum entitled "Review of Design Storm for

Narrows Damsite, Colorado", or "Hydromet Review", dated October 18, 1974.

Basin Description
The following basin description is taken from a USBR memorandum:1/

"The drainage area above Narrows Damsite is shown in Plate II-l.
It encompasses a total of 13,400 square miles with a range in
elevation from 4310 feet at the damsite to 14,270 feet on Grays
Peak at the Continental Divide about 45 miles west of Denver,
Two other peaks exceed 14,250 feet (Mount Evans, 14,264 feet,
35 miles west-southwest of Denver, and Longs Peak, 14,255 feet,
45 miles northwest of Denver). A total of 21 peaks exceed 12,000
feet, 13 exceed 13,000 feet, and 6 exceed 14,000 feet within the
drainage area,

1/ "Design Storm for Narrows Damsite - Narrows Unit - South Platte Division -'
Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program", memo dated May 23, 1974, from
C, E. Everson, Meteorologist to Head, Flood and Sedimentation Section,
Division of Planning Coordination, Bureau of Reclamation Engineering and
Research Center.

1DA.IiVIIES C.
