03 9 ~J PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of the

proposed reservoir on the hydrologic system. Specifically, the U.S.

Bureau of Reclamation requested that the U.S. Geological Survey estimate

the seepage losses from the proposed reservoir and the quantity and

location of changes in ground-water discharge to the South Platte River

caused by the proposed reservoir under steady-state conditions. The

estimates were to be made for two reservoir pool altitudes, (1) 4,404 ft

(1,342 m) above mean sea level which is the top of the joint-use pool
and (2) 4,383 ft (1,336 m) above mean sea level which is in the middle
of the conservation pool.

/0

-
