<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTIO~ OF BASIN <br /> <br />The river f10\,/s through a natural channel for about 10 miles below <br />Davis Dam at which point the river enters the broad Mohave Valley 33 <br />1-4 miles above the upper E'nd of Lake Havasu. <br />o <br />1-" Lake Havasu backs up behind Parker Dam for about 45 miles and cov- <br />e) ers about 25,000 acres. Lake Havasu serves as a forebay from \o.+dch the <br />Metropolitan I.,'ater District of SOHthern California pumps ~Her into the <br />Colorado River Aqueduct. Havasu L.1.ke will also serve as forebay for <br />the Central Ar izona Projec t pumping plants and aqueduc ts. Lake Havasu <br />and Alamo Dam and Reservoir are used to control floods ori~inatin~ below <br />uavis Dam and above Parker Darn. <br /> <br />Ileadgate Rock Dam, Palo Verde Diversion Dam, and Imperial Dam all <br />seT'/e as diversion structures with practically no storage. Imperial Dam, <br />located some 150 miles downstream from Parker Dam, is the major diver- <br />sion structure to irrigation projects in the Imperial Valley and Yuma <br />areas. It diverts IoBter on the right bank to the All-American Canal which <br />delivers IoBter to the Yuma projec t in Arizona and California and Imperial <br />and Coachella Valleys in California. It diverts on the left bank to <br />the Gila Gravity Main Canal. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Senator Wash Dam also affords regulation in the vicinity of <br />Imperial Dam and assists in the delivery of IoBter to Mexico. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1" <br /> <br />
