<br />The potential Bureau of Reclamation projects listed below are In various stages of planning <br />and their completion depends greatly upon local Interest and participation In the projects and <br />the allocation of funds for continued project studies. These projects have been analyzed for' <br />their suitability for inclusion In the State Water Plan and further study has been recommended. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SURPRISE DAM AND RESERYOIR' <br /> <br />This dam and reservoir would be located on the North Branch of the Big Blue River In Butler <br />and Polk Counties In eastern Nebraska. <br />The dam would be a rol led earth-fl I I structure with an embankment height of 83 feet and <br />crest length of 14,400 feet. The total Initial, control led storage capacity would be 176,700 <br />acre-feet. The reservoir would provide ful I regulation of the historical flows of the North <br />Branch Blue River. <br />This structure could provide Irrigation water for 3,000 acres or augmentation flows to <br />Improve low flow conditions. Flood control benefits from this project are expected to total <br />$110,000 annually. Total cost of this dam and reservoir Is expected to be $16,643,000 based on <br />October 1964 prices. <br /> <br />SEWARD VIEW DAM AND RESERVOIR' <br /> <br />This dam and reservoir would be located on lincoln Creek in Seward County. <br />The dam would be a rol led earth-fi I I structure with a maximum height of embankment of <br />approximately 86 feet and crest length of 7,800 feet. The total Initial control led storage <br />capacity of the reservoir would be 227,300 acre-feet. <br />The reservoir could provide irrigation water for 5,000 acres of basin land. Flood control <br />benefits from the project are expected to total $556,000 annually. The total cost of this dam <br />and reservoir Is expected to be $16,546,000 based on October 1964 prices. <br /> <br />SHESTAK DAM AND RESERVOIR' <br /> <br />This dam and reservoir would be located on Turkey Creek In Saline County. <br />The dam would be a rol led earth-fl I I structure with a maximum height of embankment of 85 <br />feet and crest length of 6,200 feet. A dike approximately 7,600 feet long would also be required. <br />The Initial total control led storage capacity of the reservoir would be 180,500 acre-feet. <br />This structure could provide Irrigation water for 5,000 acres of basin land. Flood control <br />benefits from this project are expected to total $182,000 annually.
