The next meeting was scheduled for March 6, <br />1997 in Durang(), Coloradt>. The Prop()nents and Citi::.en <br />CoaliLi()n were asked to specify, on or before the March 6 meeting <br />in Durango, the daLe l1y which they can prtJdv.ce a "c()nceptual" <br />strucn""l and n()n-structural alternative (respectively). <br /> <br />Si:rth R()mer/Schoettler Process Meeting was held in Durango, <br />Colorado. The meeting in Durango was mainlj; a informl11Umal <br />meeting with presentati()ns on purposes, needs, and cost of the <br />project, and on how power revenues are assigned to the pr()ject <br />being given by the Bureau of Reclamation. A presentation on <br />selenium water quolity issueS in the San Juan River was given I1y <br />the Environmental Protection Agency. Because no dates were <br />given when each group could present an alternative, the <br />RomerlScMettler Process meetings was put 'on hold' until both <br />the Citizens' CooJitiqn Team and the Proponents' team could <br />submit alternatives to the Animas-lA PIata Project. The <br />Proponent team committed on March 6 to present a structural <br />altem~ive. The Citizens' Coa/itiM team was not able to make a <br />similar commitment, however, was asked 10 commit by April 7 <br />titat titey would be willing to present a conceptual non-structural <br />alJernatfve l1y June 1, 1997. <br /> <br />RecIanultion grants the Environmental Protection Agenq a Si:rth <br />e:rtension to their review perUJd on the FSFES pendin.g ()u(c()me <br />of RomerlSc1uJettler process. Plata Project <br />with a news conference on August 5, 1997. <br /> <br />Robert B. Wiygul (Etu1h Justice) sent a letter to lieutenant <br />G()vernor Schoettler explaining that the opponents I() tite Project <br />would not be willing to meet on October 4, 1997, to continue <br />discussWns on the conceptual plans.
