t-~ COLORADO HATER QUALITY MONITORING NETWORK

Ut
CD
~~ The Division of Water Quality operates a system of 127 permanent water
quality sampling stations. The system is divided into a primary and
secondary network. The primary stations are sampled at a frequency of
approxi::tately four times per month ~Ihi Ie the secondary stations are
sampled four to six times annually. The parameters to be analyzed are
also divided into two groups according to their estimated importance
and/or analytical relationship to the other parameters being run.
Frequency of sampling, parameters sampled, and station locations are
revie'~ed annual J-y and may be changed as governed by the varTab-iJ ity .of
the associated data.

Water Quality Parameters

GROUP I .

Temperature

.Magnes i um

pH

Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR)

Dissolved Oxygen

Total Hardness as CaC03
Specific Conductivity

-Turb i di ty

Total Sol ids

Nitrates

Suspended Solids

Nitrites

Dissolved Solids

Ammonia

S-dayBiochemical Oxygen Demand

Total Phosphorus

Ch I ori des

Total Coliform Organisms

Sodium

Fecal Coliform Organisms

Cal.cium as CaC03

GROUP II

Arsenic

Copper

Bo rcn

Cyanide

Cadmium

_Fluorides

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)

Iron

Chro~ium, Hexavalent

Kjeldanl Nitrogen
