However, there are many instances <br />where the reservoir at its normal high water line will encroach upon <br />lands owned by the United States and under the management of the <br />Bureau of Land Management (BLM) (see Map 2), Most of the lands in <br />the project service area downstream of the dam and reservoir are <br />privately owned, Some industries could be located on leased BLM lands. <br /> <br />The reservoir and its service area are located in an arid region <br />that is sparsely populated, The population of western Rio Blanco <br />County (Range1y Division) was 2,321 in a special 1977 census, <br /> <br />The White River drainage basin is approximately 107 miles long <br />and averages 35 miles wide, with a total land area of approximately <br />3,808 square miles (1)1{ The dam will be located in the SE quarter <br />of Section 27, Township 2 North, Range 101 West of the 6th Principal <br />Meridian, The reservoir will be in Sections 10, 11, 14, 15, 22, 23, <br />and 27, Township 2 North, Range 101 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, <br /> <br />B, Description of Taylor DrawOam and Reservoir <br /> <br />The proposed Taylor Draw Dam will consist of an earthfil1 dam <br />on the White River about 100 feet upstream from its confluence with <br />Taylor Draw. The dam will be 53 feet high above the stream bed with <br />a 1,000 foot-long crest at elevation 5318 feet above mean sea level <br />(msl), There will be approximately 250,000 cubic yards of fill in <br />the embankment, The dam will impound a reservoir with a water volume <br /> <br />II References to information sources will be noted thus (1) with <br />the title, author and date listed in the bibliography, <br /> <br />I-3 <br />
