There may be other small
animals that inhabit the area, such as ground squirrels, chipmunks,
field mice, moles, lizards, snakes, etc., but no inventory or study
has been made of them in the studies cited.

There are also probably present, at least in summertime, such
varieties of birds as magpies, sparrows, stellar's jays, chicadees,
blackbirds, hummingbirds, and others, The surrounding area, being
arid in nature, lacks the variety of bird species that may be found
elsewhere in Colorado, The reservoir would enhance the habitat for
these species,

Creel counts and stocking records of the Colorado Division of
Wildlife (13) show that this reach of the river is a poor fishery.
Species found in the river from the state line to Meeker using creel
counts include: rainbow trout, channel catfish, suckers, brown
trout, and whitefish. The trout and whitefish are probably found

11-4
