The Taylor Draw Reservoir would provide
a dependable water supply at greater economy and better quality.

3, Industrial

There are several industries in the vicinity of the project
that are potential users of project waters. Moon Lake Electric Associ-
ation has indicated an interest in water from the project. Its
participation is dependent upon several factors including final site
selection for its proposed 400 megawatt coal-fired generating plant
and the cost of project water. A coal gasification industry capable
of processing 72,000 tons of coal per day has been proposed for the
Rangely or Curtis Creek basin areas. Water could be supplied to such
an industry from this project. There would be no return flows to the
stream.

The American Hydrocarbon Company, with property north of the
river, has proven reserves of nearly 250 million tons of strippable
coal, These reserves are an attractive resource for the development
of thermal-electric generation or coal gasification plants in the area.

Other firms that may be interested in water from the project
are the Rio Blanco Oil Shale Project at Tract C-a, about 23 miles south-
east of the dam, and Superior Oil Company, about 30 miles upstream from
the reservoir on Piceance Creek, There are possibilities that other
oil shale industries may be interested in water from this project,

1-8

< j

b~
