The CAP generally gets about <br />one-fourth of the federal <br />water-project budget. <br /> <br />For example, the House approved <br />a federal Bureau of Reclamation <br />construction budget of about <br />$670 million for fiscal 1983_ The CAP <br />was allocated $169 million, or <br />slightly more than 25 percent of the <br />total. <br /> <br />That budget was never adopted, <br />however, and Arizona had to settle <br />for $143 million, a figure that still <br />represented a disproportionately <br />large piece of the pie, <br /> <br />This year, reclamation officials <br />are, proposing to spend S699 million <br />in fiscal 1984, with almost 2. percent <br />of that money going to the CAP.
