The situation at Bear
Creek Reservoir was discu~sed at the Board's July 13, 1984,
meeting and the Board's concerns were conveyed to the Corps by
letter dated July 16, 1984 (copy attached).

Discussion

Following the transmittal of my July 16 letter, the City of
Lakewood, Mt. Carbon Metropolitan District, and Central Colorado
Water Conservancy District also wrote letters (see attached
letters dated July 25, July 26, and August 10, .respectively).
All three entities concurred in the Board's request that the
Corps expeditiously reach a decision on whether space is
available in Bear Creek Reservoir for water conservation storage.

However, Lakewood suggested that it was logical that it,
rather than the Board, take the lead in bringing together
interested parties to resolve issues concerning the allocation of
any space that might be determined by the Corps to be available.
Mt. Carbon indicated that it thought this would be appropriate.
Central Colorado's letter does not speak directly to this point,
but seems to imply that neither the Board nor Lakewood should
have the lead on this matter.
\
,

206
ai/17
