<br />0160 <br /> <br />The commission, believing that the land which the <br /> <br />Indians continued to hold was better suited to pastoral <br /> <br />pursuits than to farming, further provided that in case <br /> <br />the chiefs of the band indicated that they cared to engage <br /> <br />in such work, 150 head of cattle would be given to them <br /> <br />each year for a period of 5 years and 1,000 head of sheep <br /> <br />each year for two years and 500 head a year thereafter for <br /> <br />a period of three years. provision was also made for the <br /> <br />establishing and maintaining a blacksmith shop and employ- <br /> <br />ing a competent blacksmith, for the purpose of repairing <br /> <br />the guns and agricultrual implements which the Indians <br />6 <br /> <br />use. <br /> <br />6.
