inflow to Lake Powell in water year 2000 was 62 percent of average, while water year 2001
registered inflow that was 59 percent of average.

Because of the draw down condition of Lake Powell, and this year's expected low runoff. releases
from Lake Powell in water year 2002 are being scheduled to meet the minimum objective release
of 8.23 million acre-feet. This is consistent with the requirements of the 1970 Criteria for
Coordinated Long-Range Operation of Colorado River Reservoirs.

The current elevation of Lake Powell is 3,647 feet (53 feet from full pool). Current storage is
approximately 16.9 million acre-feet (70 percent of capacity). Under the current inflow forecast,
Lake Powell will not gain much elevation this year. reaching a peak elevation of about 3,650 feet
in June. Hydrologic conditions often change in the spring period. however, and the amount of
inflow and reservoir storage seen in Lake Powell this year will depend, in part, on weather
conditions in the Colorado River basin from now through the summer.
