<br />the impact!:! of' the drought on the water courses it is
<br />useful to itemize some of the problems which may occur:
<br />Erosion,problems in the reservoirs. Since the shorelines
<br />are previously inundated lands, there is the potential
<br />f'or additiOnal erosion.
<br />Disrupt'waterf'owl nesting areas. The normal riparian
<br />zones which traditionally provide protection and covel" f'or
<br />the nesting birds will be dried out and the vegetation will
<br />be subject to f'ires.
<br />Fisheri~s impacts. The water quality of' the streams
<br />will deteriorate signif'icantly; municipal sewage treatment
<br />outf'alls will represent a higher portion of' the streamf'low;
<br />irrigation return f'lows will probably cause a higher con-
<br />centration of' total dissolved solids in the streams; and,
<br />f'or those a~eas of' anadromous f'ish runs, there will be little
<br />water available f'or the operation of' f'ish ladders. In the
<br />latter case the Corps of' Engineers (COE), BuRec and the
<br />utilities are committed to provide their best ef'f'orts to
<br />alleviate this threat to the f'isheries.
<br />Reduced water levels will greatly impact recreation
<br />and recreation-related f'acilities and structures (i.e.
<br />boat ramps, 'docks, water-intakes). The low f'lows will also'
<br />increase the temperature throughout the aquatic regime
