It is expected that the Trojan plant of

Portland 'General Electric Company (1216 MW) will be

refueled toward the end of the summer. The down time,

originally expected to be one month, may be extended to

6-8 weeks. BPA has been working with the Energy Research
and Development Administration (ERDA) to postpone the

annual maintenance period of the New Production Reactors

(800 MW) 9n the Hanford Reservation in southeastern

Washington. Sacramento Municipal Utility District's

(SHUD's) Rancho Seco plant (913 HW) is also expected to be

out of service for refueling during late summer and

efforts are being made to minimize the down time.

STANDBY G~NERATION

The Scattergood 3 unit (309 MW) is on cold standby

due to a c~rtailment of natural gas to the Los Angeles

Department; of Water and Power (LADWP). Arrangements

between PG&E and LADWP for PG&E to supply the necessary

gas have not yet been successful. Conversion of the unit

to oil burning capability is presently underway and will
not be completed until 1978. It is possible to suspend
the refitting activities and refire the unit within
about a week if gas becomes available as boiler fuel.

Also, Puget Sound Power and Light Company reports that

British Co~umbia Hydro Authority has a 900 MW oil-fired

36

ff:~~,i~~:~
if
r~~;;~1~r{~

-' ~", _...{~", ~

r~-{
