Postauthorization <br />planning began in FY77. Studies were terminated in 1979 because of the lack <br />of economic feasibility. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: Authorized purposes are flood control, water supply, water <br />quali ty, and recreation. Towanda Lake would be part of a three-lake system <br />for flood control on the Walnut River including El Dorado and Douglass Lakes. <br /> <br />SPONSOR: State of Kansas <br /> <br />34d, <br />STATUS: <br />because <br />Control <br /> <br />El Dorado Local Protection, KS <br />Preconstruction planning studies were suspended in January 1979 <br />of a lack of economic justification. Authorization was the Flood <br />Act of 1965. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: Tulsa District had recommended a channel improvement project <br />combined with a spoil bank levee and a training levee at the upper end of the <br />project.
