N
I-"
lo!:lo
'-"

I
!

'~'-'.' :

COLORADO RrVER STORAGEPR6JECT

9

company's facilities, whichever was lesser, the wheeling rate would be
reduced to $1.324 per kilowatt-year.. .
The offer also provided that when the company connects a new
power source not now planned of 1.0.0,.0.0.0 kilowatts or greater to .the
storage project system at .the Glen Canyon bus, the Four Corners bus
or beyond the Four Corners bus from Glen Canyon, the wheeling
charge to be paid the company will be reduced by $6.0.0,.0.0.0 a year.
The average annual cost under the company's offer would amount to
about $2,854,.0.0.0 during the power payout period for the storage
project. The average annual cost of delivering storage project power
from Glen Canyon to Pinnftcle Peak under Federal construction of two
345..kilovolt lines is estimated to be about $2,2.0.0,.0.0.0. Therefore,
acceptance of the company's offer would have increased the cost of
transmission to the storage project by about $65.0,.0.0.0 annually. This
increased transmission cost would have depleted the basin fund to the
extent noted above.
Also to be noted is that the Arizona Public Service Co. offer did not
provide for Bureau use of the proposed lines in Arizona to the same
degree and extent as provided in the proposals of utilities in the other
States. .
However, discussions are continuing looking to mutual advantages
to be gained by an interconnection with the company's new thermal
generating plant at Four Corners.

;.'

. <,-',;

,-,

~'l,"' .;,<
