108:;

I,"

T' ~

Since the completion of the original water supply studies in the
mid-196D's and the completion of the feasibility report and DPR in 1967
and 1973, respectively, there has become available l3 additional years
of streamflow records as published by the Geological Survey. The total
period of record has been extended from l5 (1947-196l) to 28 (l947-1974)
years. Because of the availability of these additional streamflow
records, it was decided to reanalyze the project water supplies available
for the unit.

The reservoir operation study for the period, 1947-1974, results
in an average annual project water supply at the dam of l33,000 acre-feet
which includes 31,000 acre-feet from the Weldon Valley Canal direct-flow
right assumed to be acquired. During the 28-year study period, the project
water supply at the dam would have ranged from a low of 21,900 acre-feet
in 1955 to a high of 224,000 acre-feet in 1972. It is possible that not
all of the direct-flow right will be acquired for project use. Adjust-
ments will be made in the contracts with the districts prior to the
initial delivery of project water to accommodate that possibility.

The following tabulation compares the marketable project water supply
reflected in the 1973 DPR and the current plan. As shown, it is assumed
that ,the Weldon Valley Canal direct-flow water rights will be acquired
and waters resultfng" from the rights will become part of the marketable
supply.

Average annual marketable project water supply
(acre-feet) Oi rect fl ow Project supply
Project water
yield from from Weldon Valley ava il ab 1 e
Study period Narrows Reservoi r Canal right at dam
1947-l96l 88,40D 31,000 119 ,400
(1973 DPR)
1947-l974 102,000 31,000 l33,OOO
(current plan)

The 102,000 acre-feet of project water yield from Narrows Reservoir
will result in 24,500 acre-feet of divertible return flows for a new
water supply of 126,500 acre-feet (109,700 acre-feet in 1973 DPR).

The total water supply available for the project service areas,
including the reservoir yield, the Weldon Valley Canal direct-flow

3
