Because
of increased recreation, the Eagle River valley has experienced rapid pop-
ulation growth in recent years. This population growth has increased the
need for information on the quality of water in order to efficiently develop
the water resources of the area.

The quality of water from alluvial aquifers and streams in the Eagle River
valley is generally acceptable for domestic use, according to a recent U.S.
Geological Survey, Department of the Interior, report. The one-sheet map
report, complete with location map and table of chemical analyses, presents
quality of ground water and surface water of selected sampling sites.

Prepared in cooperation with the Colorado Division of Water Resources, Of-
fice of the State Engineer, the basic-data report presents the analyses of
57 water samples collected during 1976. Except for water from the Eagle
Valley Evaporite and the Pierre Shale, water in the valley is acceptable
for domestic, municipal, and stock uses.

The U.S. Geological Survey open-file report 76-812, "Water-quality data
for the Eagle River valley in the vicinity of Eagle and Vail, west-central

,.O\.UT10-V

<I:<<;~~0
~ '%
(} '-I
_ m
" ;Z
~ ~
-"6- ~
1;>'6_191'" e

....',-...."...
(".-;~:.:-.,;;<,
'.".-'..:
.r:".._,_,
. .'~ . :.~.-_.::;-

:\,;:::?~.

~., '.
