......
......
c...n
C-0

~~&I~

Reply: A reference to the potential application of on farm improve-
ments now appears in the text as requested. Detailed coverage or.
estimates of these improvements will be provided in Unit statements
or assessments to follow. See chapter I, section D.3.b Irrigation
Source Control.

15. Comment: Pages 1-117 and 11-170. - on page 1-117, the irrigated
acres in the Uinta Basin are listed as 170,000 acres and on 11-170 it
is listed as 224,364 acres. There are actually about 205,000 acres
in the basin.

Reply: The figure of 224,364 acres should be changed to 170,000
acres. This change has been made in the text. The 170,000 acres is
the irrigated area included in the Uinta Basin Unit of the Colorado
River Water Quality Improvement program.

16. Comment: Pages 11-14 through 11-16. - Additional information
about the soils of the basin should be provided. Some of the soil
terminology is obsolete. The statement would be improved if it iden-
tified those saline soils and geologic formations which are natural
occurring sources of large amount. of salt.

Reply:
mations
section

An additional description of saline soils and geologic
is included in chapter II of the final statement. See
B.6., Topo&raphy, Geology, Minerals, and Soils.

for-

-...,-
~->,?,j
.<..t-,t~.y

17. Comment: Page 11-128, paragraph 1, last sentence. - We suggest
that reasons be given as to why 25 percent of the available irrigable
acreage has apparently become unproductive.

Reply: As requested, the reasons are now included in the narrative.
See chapter II, section D.2.b. Land Use/Cultural Factors.

18. Comment: Page. 11-184, fifth line from bottom. - The statement
would be improved if the current use of "undeveloped" land was
identified .

Reply: In order to avoid any misunderstanding, the word ''undeveloped''
has been deleted.

\
19. Comment: Page 11-187, line 1. - Deer should be included, as
there are a great nUl11ber of deer in the watershed. Also next para-
graph, recreation is not limited to just hunting, as there are many
man-days of fishing, backpacking, hiking, riding, and sightseeing
done in the watershed.

~*~~~~~

18
