ONS <br /> <br />Various Federal aGencies, each having an interest in the develop- <br /> <br />ment of resources in the project area, have collarorated in the prepa- <br /> <br />ration of this report. <br /> <br />The Geolo!,:ical Survey has provioed important information on stream- <br /> <br />flow and mapping throughout the area included in the project plan. <br /> <br />Addi tional data on surface and ground water which should be obtained by <br /> <br />the Geological Survey, are needed for use in the design, construction, <br /> <br />and operation of the notential Gunnison-A kans&s Project. Other stud,ies <br />. ~ <br /> <br />concerning the location, character, and value of mineral resourcea are <br /> <br />needed. A future prog,ram for the Geological Survey should be prosecu.ted <br /> <br />actively sO that d2.ta secured ~~ll be continuous and representative. <br /> <br />The National Park SerVice h&.a made preliminary surveys of the <br /> <br />recreational possibilitiee of potential features of the project and has <br /> <br />made some specific recow~endations which would enhance their recreational <br /> <br />value. More detailed studies should be made by the National Park <br /> <br />Service to insure optimum benefits from recreation in the final plan for <br /> <br />the proj ect. <br /> <br />The Fish and. Wildlife Service hac also carried out preliminary <br /> <br />cooperative investiGations of the 1'0tsn'tiaJ. project.
