Additional studies s~e

needed to determine fully the potentialities of the Curecantl Reservoir.

Replacement storage, lon~term or cyclic storace, power possibilities,

and recreational consideration. are 'among the many potent factors that

muet be invsstifated more fully.

Diversiona from Anthracite Creek on the North Fork Gunnison River

and from the C~stal River, a tributary of the Roaring Fork River,

combined with natural flows of the Slate and East Rivers and smaller

streame would be carried by canal to the potential Almont Reservoir to

be located on the Taylor River. The pri~ary function of that roservoir

would be the regulation of water for diversion to the Eastern Slope,

slthough ~'droelp.ctric power would be generated at the dam by uniform

releases of water for downstream fish culture.

The potential Gunnison-Arkansas Tunnel from the Almon~ Reservoir

would transport water north and, elest 12 miles to a point near T.,.ylor

Park Reservoir and thence 22,miles through the Continental Divide to

the Eastern Slope. Auxiliary pumping into the tranemountain tunnel

>Iould be necessary at times of low water levels in the Almont Reservoir,

61
