Only 10 percent may be spent on
off farm and 10% on wildlife habitat Improvement.
The upper dollar limit per farm has been raised to
$100,000 and the same for group projects has been set at
$200,000. Both limits are subject to revisions depending
on the amount of salinity control achieved.

Bow is the Prioritv determined:
* Area _- The location 'of the project within the
waterShCd. An area prone to salt leachlng.has the higher
priorit;y. .
'1Ype of project - Group proJects have higher priorit;y
over individual projects within the scope of the program.
. Scope of work - Salt reduction combined with
wildlife Improvement will have higher rating compared to
each alone.
. . Schedule of application - The project that can be
Implemented In less than Ilve years will have a higher
rating. .
. Extent of needed SalIn1t;y control work completed
previously under other programs.
. Coordination with -other project will also_ rate it
higher.
Each rating status as mentioned above has set
qualifying points which on processing through a
computer program determines the priorit;y.

How does A ulan start:
Announcement for sign-up are made public through
the local press, radio and by sending flyers to. local
farmers and ranchers. Interested groups and Indlvidua)s
sign. up showing their Intent to part1c1pate. The process

starts from here and follows the following steps.
. All applications are processed and prioritized.
. Field technicians make the contact with the group or
individual, ex:pla1n1ng the project and clari1'yIng options.
. A plan is prepared with the dollar value shown. The
technician goes over the plan with the group or the
individual as the case may be.
. Jointly approved plan Is then presented to the Soil
Conservation District Board for approval.
. The SCD Board after approval sends the plan to
ASCs Count;y Committee for funding,
. On receipt of the funds, the group or the individual is
informed to sign the contract.
* After signing the contract the group or the indMdual
calls for a bid for the work from contractors or themselves
undertake the work.
. ,On completion of the work. the bill along with
certificate of completion is submitted for payment.
Caution; No work should be started before official ',';
signing of the contract and due process of the bid.
Preparation of the plan by the ses technician does not
constitUte approval. Work done before contracting will not
be reimbursed.

Mencles
.
