1,147

Pueblo Water Board owns one-lalf of the Busk-lvanhoe imports and has
leased that water supply to High Line Canal Canpany. The High Line
Canal Company water can be stored in Turquoise Lake under contract.
Releases to the High Line Canal Company will be made upon denand and are
assumed to be similar to denand patterns of previous years.

.

CF&I Steel Corporation stores the native inflow to Turquoise Lake in
priority up to a maximum of 17,400 acre-f~t. CF&I may also store
3 ft3js fran May 15 through September 15, lnot to exceed 738 acre-feet,
this water must be released fran Turquoise Lake by Novanber 1.

Water released fran Turquoise Lake, in excess of either instream minimum
fl= or flow to meet downstream senior rights, along Lake Fork Creek and
on the Arkansas River above its confluence with Lake Creek, will be
diverted into the Mt. Elbert Conduit, flow through Mt. Elbert p=erplant,
and then be released to the Arkansas Riveli fran Twin Lakes via Lake
Creek.

Table 11 and Exhibit 12 show the proposed I operation of Turquoise Lake in
water year 1983.

E. Federal Fish Hatchery and Halfm:;Jon Diversion

The Federal Fish Hatchery near Leadville, . Colorado, will be supplied 3
flCM-through Fryingpan-Arkansas Project water at a rate of up to 6.7 ft js
as has been done in past years. This flcM is released fran Turquoise
Lake through Mt. Elbert Conduit to the fi~h hatchery and then into the
Arkansas River and later stored less apprlbpriate transit losses in .
Pueblo Reservoir. .

The planned operation of Halfmoon ~iversion is to divert all the flow up
to the maximum diversion of 150 ft js which is in excess of the downstream
call on Halfiroon Creek or the instream minimum fl=.

When water is bein:J diverted at Halfiroon ?iversion, the fl= fran Sugar
IDaf Dam will be regulated to allow the *imum diversion at Halfiroon.
The diverted flow will pass through Mt. Elbert PCMerplant and be released
.. I
to the Arkansas River v~a Lake Creek.

F. TWin LakesjMt. Elbert Forebay

1. General

TWin LakesjMt. Elbert Forebay will be ope\:-ated to maximize jXJWer genera-
tion. Twin Lakes will always maintain suf;ficient water in storage to
fill Mt. Elbert Forebay and at the sarre t:pne provide sufficient capacity
to allow the evacuation of the full, one day demand fran Mt. Elbert
Forebay. At no time will the water surface elevation in TWin Lakes be
less than 9168.7 feet.

.

20
