S. Army for use at Camp Haan during the entire fiscal
year. Delivery is accomplished through a connection from the valve
structure in the head works to a near-by pumping plant, from which
the water is pumped through a 12-mile pipe line to a softening and
filtration plant at Camp Haan. Regular delivery to Camp Haan was
begun in September 1942 and has been continuous since that time.
During the past fiscal year 87.5 acre feet of water were released
to the Camp Haan pumping plant.
Softened Colorado River water was furnished to the United
States for use at Spadra Hospital continuously from April 1943 to
September 1946. In the latter month the hospital property reverted
to the State of California and delivery of softened water was
codinued under an agreement with the State. During the last fiscal
year the delivery totaled 79.3 acre feet.
Delivery of softened water to constituent areas of the District
continued to be largely on a stand-by basis. Anaheim, Santa Ana
and Santa Monica used practically all (87 per cent or more) Colo-
rado River water. Pasadena, Coastal Municipal Water District,
Torrance, Long Beach, Fullerton. Compton, and Beverly Hills took
Colorado River water in the amount of approximately 60, 56, 43,
40, 37, 29, and 25 per cent, respectively, of their total production.
Burbank, Los Angeles, and Glendale took water only to satisfy
special demands. San Marino, with no physical connection to the
District system, was the only member agency using no Colorado
River water. The minimum monthly delivery of softened water to
constituent areas occurred In December 1947 when 3382.5 acre feet
were delivered. The maximum monthly delivery was 10,331.0 acre
feet in August 1947. The average daily delivery for the fiscal year
including Spadra was 197 acre feet, equivalent to 99.3 cubic feet
per second, or 64,180,000 gallons per day.
Delivery of natural Colorado River water to the San Diego County
Water Authority was started on December 1, 1947. gxcept for the
initial testing period and a few short shutdown periods, delivery to
the Authority has been continuous, at or near the capacity of the
San Diego aqueduct. The total quantity of water sold to the
Authority ',vas 41.093.5 acre feet, 36 per cent of the tot.al qu~nt.ity
of water sold by the District during the fiscal year.
Actual quantities of Colorado River water sold since the begin-
ning of operations in 1941 are shown in table 11.
