<br />r <br /> <br />,. ~""r'\ <br />~. ~:JOPERi\TION AND MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />Engineering plans are under consideration for supplemental and <br />stand-by power service to the State of Nevada and for power service <br />to Arizona. utilizing existing equipment and additional generating <br />units to be installed at Hoover Dam, as well as the power facilities <br />to be installed at Davis Dam_ The District is concerned with these <br />plans because of its interest both in Hoover and Parker power <br />plants. <br /> <br />Parker Dam and pon'Cr plaut <br /> <br />The U. S. Bureau of Reclamation operates and maintains Parker <br />Dam. reservoir, and power plant. Construction activity at Parker <br />Dam was continued principally in connection with the power <br />facilities for interconnecting the Davis and Parker projects. <br />The U. S. Bureau of Reclamation and the District are cooperating <br />with the Needles Elementary School District in an effort to secure <br />a federal appropriation for a new school building at Parker Dam_ <br />Consideration was given by the Bureau of Reclamation and the <br />District to the desirability of increasing the capacity of the turbines <br />in the Parker power plant by the alteration of the turbine runners. <br />By the terms of the Four-Party 1947 Parker Unit Contract dated <br />May 20, 1947. the District has agreed to take over the use and <br />benefit of units 3 and 4 at Parker power plant. December 13. 1952_ <br />Thereafter the energy to which the District is entitled from Parker <br />power plant is to be used for the operation of the District project in <br />preference to energy from the Hoover power plant. The energy <br />from the plant was originally to be divided evenly between the <br /> <br />~ <br />
