The <br />~ater sampled at site 5 during November through March is irrigation drainage <br />and shallow ground-water discharge intercepted by the Garnet Canal. The <br />concentration of dissolved solids ~as 12,700 mg/L; sodium was 2,900 mg/L; <br />and sulfate was 7,500 mg/L in late March (table 16), about 1 week before the <br />Gunnison Tunnel diversion was opened. The sample collected in March at site 5 <br />had the maximum concentrations of selenium (320 ~g/L), boron (800 ~g/L), <br />vanadium (14 ~g/L), and uranium (64 ~g/L) for samples collected during this <br />reconnaissance. <br /> <br />Water samples collected in November at site 6 had substantially smaller <br />concentrations of dissolved solids (fig. 13), sodium, sulfate (table 16), and <br />selenium (fig. 14) than did the ~ater samples collected at site 5 on the same <br /> <br />43 <br />
