9

. 09 8'R~rquoise Lake

The total inflow to Turquoise Lake for the water year 1972 was very
near that predicted as the most probable in last year's report. The
Busk-Ivanhoe imports were 40 percent higher than predicted. and the
native flow was about 27 percent higher. However, the Homestake im-
ports were 38 percent less. and the project imports were 6 percent
less than predicted. The Homestake project did not import any water
during the spring and summer period.

The CF&I Steel Corporation's operation in Turquoise Lake was about as
anticipated. However. Pueblo Water Board and Homestake projeot drew
much more water out of storage than had been predicted. At the end of
the water year the Homestake project had 6,000 acre-feet in storage
and the Pueblo Water Board had none. The other ownerships were about
as predicted with the sale of project water being 20.000 acre-feet as
compared to 18,000 predioted. Total storage at the end of September
was 52.000 acre-feet compared to 66.000 acre-feet anticipated under
most probable oonditions.

Table 2 and exhibit 5 show the 1972 operation of Turquoise Lake.

.

.
