The acquisition of state owned land is out-
lined in the Bureau of Reclamation's project report entitled
"Closed Basin Division, San Luis Valley Project, Colorado, 1963."
This report states that about 61,000 acres of state land will be
made available to the project at no cost to the federal government
and that rights-of-way for all required state land will be requested
by the Bureau upon authorization of the project.

If possible we would like to have more detailed information
on the proposed use of state lands in this project. More specifi-
cally we would like to know how the Bureau of Reclamation is plan-
ning to administer these state lands and how much state control
will be retained. We would also like to know more exactly the
locations of state owned land to be acquired for the project and
the restrictions that will be imposed upon these lands during and
after construction of the project, especially as pertains to agri-
culture.

Most of these state lands are currently being held under
grazing leases and provide a considerable source of revenue to
the state. We wish to avoid the loss of any more of this revenue
than is necessary.

If you need any additional information, please contact me

(' - -~ ~ '~: ..~,
J",.. .............-..it,,)
