The following quantities were pumped in calendar
years 1975 through 1989.

Thousands of
Year Acre-Feet Cubic Meters
. 1975 106,227 131,030
1976 97,870 120,722
1977 129,636 159,905
1978 98,235 121,172
1979 23,562 29,063
1980 14,378 17 ,735
1981 120,586 148,742
1982 131,738 162,498
1983 18,190 22,437
1984 7,266 8,963
1985 30,299 37,373
1986 10,789 13,308
1987 52,253 64,453
1988 127,585 157,374
1989 140,700 173,551
In 1989, Mexico continued pumping at a high rate to supplement gravity
diversions to serve its needs.

The USBR has completed 21 of 35 wells on the US side within five miles of the
Arizona-Sonora boundary near San Luis for protective and regulatory pumping
and 18 of the 21 wells were pumped in 1989. The remaining 14 wells have been
deferred until water supply needs make construction necessary.

.
