The
existing license (FERC Project No, 2204) expires January I, 2007, Denver Water is
applying to the FERC for either a new license (relicense) or for a small hydroelectric
project exemption. This Wildlife Habitat Survey Report has been prepared in support of
the relicense/exemption application.

In early 2003, Denver Water developed and distributed Scoping Document 1 (SOl) to
initiate fonnal consultation regarding resource issues that could potentially be affected by
the operation of the Williams Fork Project. Public scoping meetings were held in June
2003 to solicit input on resource issues that should be considered in the
relicensing/exemption process and on environmental studies that might be necessary to
support evaluation of specific resource issues. No concerns regarding wildlife and
associated wildlife habitat were identified by the public or the agencies at the scoping
meetings or during the comment period for SO I. Furthennore, the U.s. Fish and Wildlife
Service did not identify any specific threatened or endangered species concerns related to
the Williams Fork Project.

No specific wildlife studies were requested during scoping, However, in an effort to
establish baseline conditions within the FERC project boundary and in the surrounding
area, Denver Water developed a study plan to evaluate the extent and condition of
wildlife habitat at the Williams Fork Project. The purpose of the wildlife habitat study
was to identify and map sensitive or important habitat types for consideration in future
land management and project operations planning, The wildlife habitat survey detailed in
this report was completed in accordance with the wildlife habitat study plan.

Willial'r.s Fork Rese\"\'OII
Hydroelectric Project
January 2004

Steigers Corpor~tlOn
Wildlife Habitat Survey Repurt

Page \
