.

.

.

-. ~ G <
0- i.-~

SUMMARY

(X) Supplement to Final Fryingpan-Arkansas Project Environmental
Statement

Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Missouri
Region

1. Type of Action:

(X) Administrative

( )

Legislative

2. Brief Description of Action

This supplement discusses construction of the Fountain Valley Conduit's
new alinement. The conduit is 45 miles long and will be for conveyance
of municipal and industrial waters between Pueblo Dam and the city of
Colorado Springs and other Fountain Valley communities. The former
alinement went from Canon City to Colorado Springs. This proposed
alinement for the conduit was not discussed in the April 16, 1975,
Final Environmental Statement for the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project,
Colorado (FES 75-43). The proposed conduit would transport 20,100
acre-feet of water annually.

3. Summary of Environmental Impacts: Land committed to the conduit
and associated facilities would create an insignificant loss of habitat.
Approximately two hundred ninety acres of land would be acquired
in easement and 30 acres in fee title. The fee acquired land, when
removed from the tax rolls of Pueblo and EI Paso Counties, will affect the
combined tax structures less than one percent.

4. Alternatives Considered: No development, Parkdale alternative,

Ggl.t M~le aIternati.e, Red Creek &aftyon-a-l-t'eflHltive, and-t-he--8mon City

route.

5.
