<br /><:.., <br /> <br />CONTAMINANTS SURVEYS <br /> <br />Level I Supplemental Contaminant Survev <br /> <br />This survey will consist of consultation with area <br />contaminants experts, a desk audit and on-site <br />reconnaissance visit to investigate for the possible <br />presence of environmental contaminants such as trace <br />elements, pestic~des, and' other potential coritaminants from <br />sources such as energy development facilities, sewage <br />treatment facilities, etc. that may be applicable to <br />individual sites. This survey will not include sampling. <br /> <br />The desk audit will review existing information on soil <br />types, geology, historical hydrological conditions of site, <br />mining activities, energy development, NPDES permits, <br />current and past land use, adjoining land use, water-quality <br />data, and contaminants data from any previous studies (e.g. <br />irrigation drainage studies, etc.). Data bases, aerial <br />photos, maps, historical accounts, and consultation with <br />area contaminants experts will be used as sources of <br />information. <br /> <br />The on-site reconnaissance visit will examine land use <br />practices, adjoining land-use practices, water sources <br />(seeps or inflows), drainage patterns of site and adjoining <br />land, vegetation type (indicator plants), hydrological <br />conditions (does site have standing water or is it dry), and <br />any obvious indications of problems. <br /> <br />The Level I Supplemental Contaminant Survey Checklist (See <br />Attachment 1) will be completed and given to the <br />Contaminants Coordinator a1.ong with any additional pertinent <br />information regarding the site. This ,information will be <br />compiled into a report to the Flooded Bot'tomland Coordinator <br />for systematic review and evaluation. <br /> <br />Level I and II contaminant Survevs <br /> <br />The Level I Contaminant survey will consist of an on-site <br />visit to inspect the property for hazardous waste materials. <br />The Level I Contaminant survey Checklist will be completed <br />following standard procedures. (See Attachment 2). <br /> <br />In the event that a property does not pass a Level I <br />Contaminant Survey, with the concurrence of the Flooded <br />Bottomland Coordinator, a Level II Contaminant Survey will <br />be completed. (See Attachment 3). <br />
