In addition, numerous conferences were

held with various members and advisors in the development of the problem identification

list.

Description of Area

ASA 1103, delineated by the Water Resources Council, encompasses the southwestern

two-thirds of the State of Kansas and the north-central portion of Oklahoma. The

extreme southeast county, Baca, of Colorado is also designated as part of the ASA.

The area extends from the Colorado-Kansas state line to roughly the heauwaters

of the Keystone Reservoir in Oklahoma. The Arkansas and Cimarron rivers are the

major drainage courses and cover about 48,000 square miles. The area includes

a total of 55 counties.
