Provide additional capacity to meet existing,peak water demands and anticipated demands at <br />build-out of the Pueblo West community. <br /> <br />In order to construct, operate, and maintain the Proposed River Pump Station No, 2, 36-inch pipeline, <br />diversion and river intake structure, and generator, Pu~blo West is seeking to amend their existing <br />easement with Reclamation. <br /> <br />Issues <br /> <br />Reclamation's Eastern Colorado Area Office in Loveland, Colorado, released a scoping letter for <br />public comment in August 8, 2002, that described the proposed action. In response, three comment <br />letters from two interested parties, the Pueblo Board of Water Works and the Colorado Division of <br />Parks and Outdoor Recreation, were received. OutJin~d below is a list of significant issues developed <br />from these public comment letters and Reclamation's internal scoping. . <br /> <br />1. Impacts from noxious weeds <br /> <br />2. Impacts on listed and candidate T &E species; especially bald eagles and black-tailed prairie <br />dogs <br /> <br />3. Potential changes in the timing and amounts of Pueblo West's waterreleased from storage <br />upstream in the Arkansas River <br /> <br />4. Impacts on Pueblo Board of Water Works 17 cubic feet per second (cfs) raw water release to <br />the Arkansas River and downstream diversion to Comanche Pump Station and Whitlock Water <br />Treatment Plant <br /> <br />5, Impacts of construction activities on Arkansas River raw water quality <br /> <br />6. Impacts to diversions for the West Pueblo Dit~h, including the ability to deliver water to the <br />Rock Canyon Swim Beach (Swim Beach) . <br /> <br />4 <br />
