<br />Location.--Water_stage recorder, lat 3r41'22", long 106027'38", in NW~ sec. 29, T. 40 N., R. 5 E.,
<br />on right bank, 20 ft downstream from county highway bridge, 5 miles upstream. from Pinos Creek,
<br />and 6 miles west of Del Norte. Datum of gage is 7,980.25 it above mean sea level, datum of 1929.
<br />Prior to May 16. 1908, staff gage at site 4 miles downstream. Records are equivalent.
<br />
<br />Draina~e area.--l,320 sq mi, approximately.
<br />
<br />Avera~e dischar~e.--88 years (1890-1977), 896 cfs (649,200 acre-ft per year).
<br />
<br />Extremes.--1889-1977: Maximum discharge, 18,000 cfs Oct. 5, 1911 (gage height, 6.80 ft). from
<br />rating curve extended abov~ 6,000 cfs; minimum daily, 69 cfs Aug. 21, 1902.
<br />
<br />Remarks.--Records good except for some winter months, which are fair. Flow regulated by four
<br />~rvoirs, total capacity 126,100 acre-ft, and by several smaller ones. Six transmountain
<br />diversions import water into basin above station.
