<br />~ <br />1:.1 <br />..... <br />- <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />as the surface inflow. to the river section was reduced. <br /> <br />Salvages by the replacement of native vegetation by crops <br /> <br />and other beneficial uses for the 1946-1951 period were deter- <br /> <br />mined for the various stream sections as described in the report <br /> <br />for the 1914-1945 period. <br /> <br />The decreased or increased channel losses caused by native <br /> <br />growth changes in the river bottoms and flood plains were deter- <br /> <br />mined as the differences between the uses by native vegetation <br /> <br />under historic and under virgin conditions wi th consideration <br /> <br />for the replacement by beneficial uses. <br /> <br />C. Water Contributions by States <br />The average annual contributions to the flow of the Colorado <br /> <br />River and its tributaries by the several states and Mexico in the <br /> <br />Lower Basin were determined for the 1946-1951 period under <br /> <br />historic and under virgin conditions. <br /> <br />The 1946-1951 average historic and virgin flows were routed <br /> <br />downstream from points of man-made developments on the tributaries <br /> <br />in the Lower Colorado River Basin to the International Boundary <br /> <br />and the channel losses and salvages prorated in accordance with <br /> <br />the same procedures described in the report for the 1914-1945 <br /> <br /> <br />period. Thus, 1946-1951 average virgin flows and depletions by <br /> <br />states and Mexico and by types of use were determined at selected <br /> <br />gaging stations and division points in the Lower Colorado River <br /> <br />Basin. <br /> <br />17 <br />
