Connally <br />Governor of the State of Texas <br />Austin, Texas <br /> <br />Sirs: <br /> <br />The 29th Annual Meeting of the Rio Grande Compact Commission was held in <br />Santa Fe, New Mexico, on February 15, 1968. <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed its prior reports and current reports of the <br />Secretary relative to streamflow at Compact gaging stations and storage in <br />reservoirs. The Commission found that: <br /> <br />(a) Deliveries of water in Rio Grande by Colorado at the Colorado-New Mexico <br />State line amounted to 160,400 acre-feet, which was approximately nine <br />percent less than the scheduled delivery in 1967. The accrued debit of <br />Colorado was thereby increased to 944, 400 acre-feet as of December 31, <br />1967. <br /> <br />(b) Deliveries of water into Elephant Butte Reservoir by New Mexico, as <br />measured by the Elephant Butte Effective Supply, was 366,900 acre-feet, <br />which was almost thirteen percent in excess of the scheduled delivery in <br />1967. The accrued debit of New Mexico was thereby reduced to 382, 400 <br />acre-feet as of December 31, 1967. <br /> <br />(c) Releases of usable water in 1967 from Project Storage amounted to 457,500 <br />acre-feet, which was 57 percent of the normal release defined by the <br />Compact. <br /> <br />(d) Expenses of administration of the Rio Grande Compact were $32,434 in <br />the fiscal year ending June 30, 1967.
