<br /> <br />.......... ... <br /> <br />Watershed treatment and management practices will be needed on most of the <br />region's forest, range and cropland. Illustrations 20 and 21 show the practices re- <br />quired, the percentage of the land currently treated and properly managed and the <br />percentage projected to be completed by 2020. These practices increase production <br />on the land, prevent excessive runoff and erosion and preserve and enhance the <br />water supply. <br />The flood control program for the region is to reduce flood damages to an extent <br />considered economically feasible. This program includes flood control structures, <br />critical area treatment, watershed management measures and flood plain manage- <br />ment. Illustration 22 shows the projected effect of the flood control plan. <br />The demand for recreation in the' region can be met provided funds are available <br />to develop the necessary facilities. Water-based .recreation facilities generally will be <br />limited to water developments made for other purposes.
