This report summarizes the 33rd year of operation and
activities of the Arkansas-White-Red Basins Interagency
Committee and highlights of the committee's operations
during the year October 1, 1987, through September 30, 1988.
Further detail is included in the recorded minutes and
appendixes, a limited number of copies of which are
available upon request. Throughout this report, the
Arkansas-White-Red Bas1ns Interagency Committee is referred
to as the AWRBIAC, the committee, or the AWR Committee.
Activities of the AWRllIAC during the yea,- were directed
'toward:

1.. Providing, at the regional level ~ impl"ovements of"
coordina~ion o~ activities in the ~1eld o~ water and
related land resources.

2. Providing a means by which interagency problems in this
field may be resolved.

3. Developing program interest sessions at regularly
scheduled AWR Committee meetings, thereby providin~
current in~orma'tion rela~iye ~o changes in law or
policy in the field of water resources development.

4. Considering t.he coordinat.ion of the collection and
interpretation o~ basic data.

5. Promoting standing committee activity within the
AWRBIAC in the areas of comprehensive planning,
exchange of' progralll inf'orlnc...tion, and enviT'onmentC\l
resources.

6. Keeping abreast of policy developments in river basin
planning. The committee's overall functional charge
and, where approl'.riate, specific charges to its
standing committees are contained in Appendix 1. The
AWRBIAC Charter and Articles of Organization and
Procedures are included in Appendi,: 4. A map of the
AWR River Basins is on page iii.
