Robson, District Office, Lakewood

PERIOD OF PROJECT: October 1980 to September 1985

ProbLem.--Large volumes of ground water are contained in under-util ized
bedrock aquifers of Mesozoic and Paleozoic age extending from eastern Colorado to
Missouri. Development of these sources of water is hindered by a lack of know-
ledge of the depth and permeabil ity of the aquifers and the qual ity of water.

Objectives.--Learn more, about the geologic structure and hydrologic charac-
teristics of the most promising of these aquifers. The Colorado part of the study
will deal with four aquifers that extend from the Front Range of the Rocky Moun-
tains into Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

Approach.--Compute and analyze existing
define the geologic structure of the aquifers.
wells that will provide information on the
aquifer. Use digital models of the aquifers to
pretat ions.

geologic and geophysical
Use the structural data to
hydrologic characteristics
check the validity of the

data to
select
of each
inter-

Progress.--None--new project.

PZans.--Complete literature search and compile geologic and geophysical data.
Analyze data and prepare structural maps of the aquifers.

25
