The alternatives include: 1) a "No Act'ion" alternative; 2) the <br />permittee's proposed action (Alternative G); 3) the Forest Service Preferred <br />(Alternative F); 4) improvements within the currently developed portion of the <br />permit area only (Alternative B); S) improvements within the currently developed <br />portion of the permit area with development of a second portal limited to transit <br />(Alternative H); and 6) a maximum development scenario for both the currently <br />developed portion of the permit area and expansion within the currently <br />undeveloped, Burnt Mountain, portion of the permit area (Alternative E) . <br /> <br />This document discusses the purpose and Need of the proposed action, as well as <br />the potential effects of implementing each alternative, and provides a <br />description of cumulative impacts and required and proposed mitigation measures. <br /> <br />A Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was released for public comment in <br />May, 1993. Over 1,840 responses were received. A summary of those comments and <br />the agency response is included in the FEIS. Additional information is included <br />in the FEIS ae a result of the comments. <br /> <br />Anpeals: The Record of Decision accompanying this FEIS is subject to appeal <br />pursuant to 36 CFR 21S.7. A written Notice of Appeal must be submitted within <br />45 days after'publication of the notice of this Decision. Notice must be sent <br />to: USDA, Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region / Attn: Tom Thompson, Appeals <br />Deciding Officer / PO Box 25127 / Lakewood, Colorado 80225. <br />
