Compleled in 1955, GrO'>s improved water ..wrage <br />for the new supply divencd through the Moffat Tunnel and helped Denver survive the drought of the mid-5(r." <br />The Blue River Diversion project, first studied before World War I and surveyed in the early 1921h, would bring <br />Woller mote than 80 miles to Denver from the Blue River and its lributaries on the Weslern Slope. <br />Woller Department crews tackled the immense project in 1946 by sldningconstruction at Grant,Colo.,of a 23.3- <br />mIll' tunnel under the Conlinenl.1I Divide. In 1956, six large construction firms combined to successfully bid the <br />tunnel projecl.
