An environmental assessment is scheduled <br />to be completed May 1995. <br /> <br />Deep well injection studies are underway to detenil!ne if the brine disposal <br />meth~ is an acceptable altemative to an evaporation pond. <br /> <br />The intent of Congress is to remove salt from the Colorado River by the most <br />economical means. Increments of authorized units mayor may not be <br />constructed depending upon the amount of salt needed to be removed as <br />indicated in The Joint Evaluation Report of Interior and Agriculture. <br /> <br />Appropriations authorized are $301 ,483,000 (October 1993) for Title II of the <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Project under Public Law 93.320.' The <br />comparable Federal obligation is $721,839,196 which eXcaeds the appropriation <br />ceiling by more than the amount of contingencies inciuded in the Obligation. <br />Appropriate congressional committees will be advised of the appropriation <br />celling status for this project. Legislation to provide additional appropriation <br />ceiling would be needed to complete the total project as authorized. Current <br />estimated commitments will be held within the existing ceiling. The cost of the <br />.features of McElmo Creek Unit which is a part of the Dolores Participating Project, <br />CRSP, are inciuded in the total Federal obligations and the appropriation celling <br />for Tille II facilities. <br /> <br /> <br />" <br />" <br />" <br /> <br />Radium Dam, Dike, and Evaporation Pond (Deep Injection Wells) .
