<br />,d <br />.'..'......'..'.1:.. <br />~,~ <br />: ~'-~. <br />~;I <br />~,. ~ <br />~4;;i <br />j <br />~t;JI <br />:VJ <br />~v <br />;;';', <br /> <br />(\} <br />1:'- <br />l.I? <br />C'? <br />c.") <br /> <br />RIO GRANDE COMPACT COMMISSION <br /> <br />COLORADO <br /> <br />TEXAS <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br />NEW MEXICO <br /> <br />".i <br />:i His Excellency, BrUce King <br />] GOvernor of the Sta te of New Mexico <br />t Santa Fe, New Mexico <br /> <br />His Excellency, Preston Smith <br />GOvernor of the State of Texas <br />AUstin, Texas <br /> <br />February 18, 1971 <br /> <br />Sirs: <br /> <br />The 32nd Annual Meeting of the Rio Grande Compact Commission was held at <br />Santa Fe, New Mexico, on FebrUary 18, 1971. <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed its prior reports and current reports of the Secretary <br />relatiVe to stream flow at Compact gaging stations and storage in reservoirs, The <br />Commission found that: <br /> <br />(a) Deliveries of water in Rio Grande by Colorado at the COlorado-New Mexico <br />State line amoUnted to 323,500 acre-feet, which was 28,200 acre-feet in <br />excess of the Scheduled deliVery in 1970, The accrUed debit of Colorado <br />was redUCed to 830,400 acre-feet as of December 31, 1970, HOwever, in <br />light of the, as yet unresolved, controversy between the States, Colorado <br />cannot agree with the ConClUsions as to her indebtedness. <br /> <br />Deliveries of water into Elephant Butte ReserVOir by New MeXico, as <br />measured by the Elephant Butte Effective SUPply, amOunted to 525,300 <br />acre-feet, which was 31,400 acre-feet in excess of the SChedUled <br />deliVery in 1970. The accrued debit of New Mexico was redUCed to <br />150,500 acre-feet as of December 31, 1970. <br /> <br />Releases of usable water in 1970 from Project Storage amOunted to <br />662,100 aore-feet, which Was about 84 percent of the normal release <br />defined by the Compact. <br /> <br />Expenses of administration of the Rio <br />the fiscal year ending June 30, 1970. <br />of this total; the balance of $20,973 <br />States party to the Compact. <br /> <br />Grande Compact were $37,173 in <br />The United States bore $16,200 <br />Was borne equally by the three <br /> <br />RespectfUlly, <br /> <br />G. <br />c. .1. <br /> <br /> <br />MeXico <br /> <br /> <br />. ,'~>' <br />
