<br />downstream from highway bridge, 6 miles north of Colorado-New Mexico State line, 10 miles east of Lohatos,
<br />and 14 miles east of Antonito. Datum of gage is 71426. 79 it above mean sea level, datum of 1929.

<br />Drainage area. --7,700 sq mi, approximately (includes .2,940 sq mi in closed basill' in San Luis Valley).

<br />Extremes. u 1899-1970: Maximum discharge observed, 13,200 cis June 8, 1905, (gage height, 9.1 it), from
<br />rating curve extended above 8,000 cfs; no flow at times in 1950-51, 1956.

<br />Remarks. --Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Natural flow of streams affected by
<br />transmountain diversions, storage reservoirs, ground-water withdrawals and diversions for irrigation, and
<br />return flow from irrigated areas.

<br />upstream and October 1935 to September 1938, at site 1. 1 miles upstream at different datum.
