02-15

.

ge. Questionable Irri~ation Benefits

.

The nationally recognized engineering companies of Woodward, Clyde
and Sherrard, International Engineers, and Wright Engineering Company
have been employed to make individual and separate studies of channel
storage on the South Platte River in the local area. Each of these
companies have stated advantages for upstream storage. In no case were
there advantages in favor of Narrows that could not be fulfilled by up-
stream storage.
What credentials do engineers employed by the Bureau of Reclamation
possess that substantiate their evaluation superior to that of these
nationally reputable firms?
The existing conditions, shifting of population, industrial growth,
along with the numerous advantages in favor of "upstream storage" demand

that an entire re-evaluation of this project be completed by unbiased

expertise; and it is imperative that a regional plan of development for

the South Platte Basin be initiated in order that maximum beneficial use

of the waters may be consumated where all of Northeastern Colorado will

benen t.

.
