To accomplish the legislative requirement of
the 1916 NPS Organic Act to ". . . conserve the
scenery and natural and historic objects and wild-
life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of
the same [and] leave them unimpaired . . .," the
following objectives for management of the river
have been established.
(1) Protect the Colorado River and its
riparian environment from unacceptable change
caused by river running activities.
(2) Provide an opportunity for all visitors
to enjoy a high quality, rewarding river running
experience consistent with the magnificent setting
of the Grand Canyon.
